Dead ball situations are an important part of football. Many teams would spend hours creating dead ball routines on the training ground with the aim of scoring from them.
However, you may wonder if it’s possible to score a goal from certain dead-ball situations, so here’s a guide for you:
Can you score directly from a dropped ball in football?
You are unable to score directly from a dropped ball in football, as the ball needs to touch at least 2 players before the goal is counted. This means that if you kick the football directly from a dropped ball into the goal, it would not count.
Drop balls are rather rare events in football. Usually, they would occur when there has been some kind of outside interference that stops the run of play.

It is mentioned in the Laws of the Game that you will be able to score a goal directly from kick-off.
